It’s exciting to introduce you to our August Vizzler of the Month…Vizzle’s own Lindsey Gabel! Lindsey joined us this summer as our Texas area account manager. She is fresh out of the classroom and eager to help y’all with implementing Vizzle.
How did you use Vizzle in your classroom?
I used Vizzle in several different ways in my classroom. We utilized it during large group and small group instruction, as well as one-on-one with students. I also used Vizzle as homework by sharing student logins and passwords with parents.
What was your students’ response to Vizzle?
My students LOVED using Vizzle! They were always excited to come to the board to select their answer and play the celebration games at the end of each lesson.
If you had to choose your favorite Vizzle feature, what would it be and why?
My favorite feature in Vizzle is the data collection tool. Every time a student plays a lesson, Vizzle AUTOMATICALLY tracks the data for you! This allowed me to spend more time focusing on the students’ instruction rather than manually tracking their progress. At the end of each week, I was able to run a quick report to monitor students’ progress.
What brought you to working with MTT (creators of Vizzle) from the classroom?
Working with MTT has allowed me to broaden my reach within special education. I am able to work with so many different teachers across the state of Texas and in turn influence the education of so many more students.
What or who inspired you to become a teacher?
In high school, I spent a lot of time in the Life Skills classroom. It was in this classroom observing and working with their classroom teacher, Tiffany Woodall, that inspired me to go into teaching special education. I wanted to provide students with skills necessary to broaden the horizon for their future. This includes teaching things like job skills, social skills, etc. Teaching anything and everything needed for students to gain independence and employment opportunities in the future.
What advice would you give a brand new teacher?
I would tell any new teacher to take a deep breath and take it one day at a time (and to use Vizzle!). You are making an impact on your students even when you don’t realize it!
We are thrilled to welcome you to the MTT team, Lindsey! Your classroom experiences will make you a wonderful resource to our customers! Love your thoughts on how working with MTT broadens your reach within special education. As Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
